What is Media?

Media is the plural of "Medium".
The dictionary definition of "Medium": Means doing something, channel or cummunication , material or technical means of artistic expressions

Media is mostly about communicating and getting your point across to the public. The different ways people communicating is through T.V, Phones, Newspaper etc

Realism
A number of factors contribute to an understanding of realism. The factors apply to any fictional genre, from a drama documentary to science ficton.
Planesability- Events seen in the story and if they can happen in the real world
Believeability- Motivation of the character and if people act like this in the real world

Representation is the way in which an indvidual or social group is portrayed in the media.
The media represent the world of us Newspapers, TV, Radio and the Internet show us not reality but somebody's version of reality

Film Genres

Every film that is made has to be put into a certain category these are based on the conventions the film is made up of. The conventions are what gives the film a genre.
For example Star trek is made up of the following conventions Robots, Spaceships, Aliens therefore the genre would be science fiction
